SANDRA BARREIRA - Argentine Naval Hydrographic Service, ARGENTINE
Sandra Barreira is a Principal Scientist at the Argentine Naval Hydrographic Service - Meteorological Department. She received her doctorates in Meteorology and Oceanography from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina and has been working in Antarctic and Artic sea ice since 2001. Her principal research is focused in Principal Component Analysis of sea ice and its relationship with climate. Other areas that she is actually involved are the developing of two Neuronal Networks of sea ice and climate patterns that will be used to forecast sea ice, a numerical model of sea ice and, the verification and development of algorithms of SAC-D sea ice data. Before she began to work on Antarctica issues she was on charge of the Weather Numerical Model and the Wave Model of the Argentine Navy for more than 10 years and her areas of expertise were focused principally on the physical processes parametrization and numerical methods.
